Hi, thanks for watching. I don’t think that will be a problem. Actually, if you ask me, doing a specific FA post-secondary education is not really necessary. Education can be an asset, but work experience is what would really help you in securing the job. If you really want to continue your post-secondary education, you can do so with any program, but build up your work experience as you go, especially in the customer service industry.

Hi, thanks for watching. We are slowly getting trained for it. The FA at our biggest base, Calgary, where most of the dreamliners are flying out of, are trained on it (majority of them are). Since I’n Vancouver base and our 87 operations there are seasonal, we don’t really have to have everyone trained on it at the moment. They would open up a slot for the training and you’re able to apply for it. The determining factor as to whether or not you can secure a training spot will be by seniority.

Hi, thanks for watching! Technically, yes, I now can operate the long-haul flights on the 87s. However, those are more out of Calgary, and I’m not moving there just for that. I love my base in Vancouver. 😁 So, I’m not even sure when I am able to operate on the dreamliner. I’d like to work it just to get a feel of the flow of the operation, but no rush on my part. I love how my schedule works on the 737s. 😊

Hi, thanks for watching. We have certain rules to follow based on the collective agreement. We get paid a minimum 4 hours even if you fly for only 1 hour. But, there are some changes if you drop flights partially… in that case, you only get paid the flying hours. For turn flights/one day, I pack an overnighter (i.e. underwear, pjs, toiletries etc), just in case we get stuck somewhere, I am prepared. When I was still holding reserve, if I got assigned a turn on day 1, I take all my luggage worth for a 5-day trip because they can extend your pairing and you should be prepared. :)

I honestly can’t remember how long it took me because the first time I was put in the pool, they stopped the hiring process and I ended up not getting a training date (if you’ve watched my cabin crew journey, I’ve explained the reason why I didn’t get it. But I did sit in the pool for some time). When they started re-hiring, and invited me over for a final in person interview, I did not sit in the pool for too long. I think they called me up the next day after the interview to offer me a training date. But again, it was all about timing. You can be put in the pool for a maximum of 6 months. Just be patient. You’ll eventually get that dat! Good luck! 😊

Hi, thanks for watching! Hmm that’s a good question. It’s been a while since my initial training. If I remember, I packed the essentials (clothes, toiletries, makeup). I did pack my own supplies for class (notebooks, highlighters, pens etc). You don’t need to worry about groceries as you’re able to order them and get them delivered to your room (the front desk will explain it more when you get there). Maybe pack some sort of a lunch kit for you to put your lunch in.. (of course a lunch container too) I’d say even a reusable bag (similar to that of a lululemon shopping bag) will do. If you plan to do grocery shopping in person, pack a few bigger reusable grocery shopping bags just in case. You’d have to provide for your own laundry detergent, so it’s up to you if you want to purchase it there or pack some detergent pods from home. I think that’s pretty much all I can remember. Hi, I’m not sure what you mean by your question. If you mean getting paid while on reserve, yes we do get paid certain number of hours per day while sitting on reserve. If we get activated to fly, we get paid the greater (flying hours or that minimum number of hours per day on reserve).
